On my way to work this week I snapped this pic. If I’m being honest, I thought about the last scene in Grease where Danny and Sandy drive their convertible right up into the clouds and turn to wave goodbye – that was right before my more holy thought of God himself unrolling the clouds to expose the light of another new day
And inside my car, I was carrying the weight of concern for many loved ones, and the bone tired feelings that come when you are in the job you’ve been called to, that brings unexplainable satisfaction and joy, and also weariness most days. And I thought of those that are doing the dang thing, providing for their families, taking care of babies at home, running their own businesses, sweeping the floors, whatever it is, and the truth that just because we are RIGHT WHERE GOD WANTS US, doesn’t mean we won’t be tired. It doesn’t mean there won’t be bad days.
And then something like a fiery red sunrise comes along, and it’s just the B12 shot God knew we needed to launch us into a new day. A reminder that just like Danny and Sandy, we can look over our shoulder and wave goodbye to the strain of yesterday, because His strength and grace are fresh for today, and that’s something to be thankful for.
There’s ALWAYS something to be thankful for. Always.
“Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.”
